TEEING OFF: With just two tournaments remaining on the fall portion of its schedule, the University of Cincinnati men's golf team heads south to Hopkinsville, Ky. to compete in the F&M Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by Austin Peay on Oct. 22-23. A large field of 18 teams will gather for the ninth annual event at the Links at Novadell. Cincinnati will be out to improve upon a seventh place finish at the 2006 edition of the tournament.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: A total of 18 teams, including two from host Austin Peay, will contest the 54-hole, two-day F&M Bank Intercollegiate, beginning on Monday, Oct. 22. Last season's champion, Troy, will not be on hand to defend its title, but the field will try to top the five-time event champion Governors. The field, with Golfweek rankings includes: Austin Peay (135), Bowling Green (69), Carson-Newman (N/A), Cincinnati (176), Dayton (202), Eastern Illinois (196), Illinois State (195), IPFW (232), Lipscomb (143), Morehead State (222), Murray State (113), Samford (179), Tennessee-Martin (160), Tennessee State (257), Tennessee Tech (158), Western Illinois (165) and Wright State (220). The 2006 event was a nail biter with Troy pulling out a one-shot win over Austin Peay and Murray State. The Bearcats finished in a seventh place tie with Tennessee-Martin last year.

THE LINE-UP: Cincinnati's top four players will remain the same as it has all Fall for the F&M Bank Intercollegiate, with freshman Joe Kastelic and his team-leading 72.6 average leading the way. Redshirt freshman Ryan Cahill, perhaps the team's biggest surprise of the season, is in the two hole at 74.8, with junior Blake Tucker sharing the same average. Junior Albert Fernandez, UC's top returning player entering the fall is at 75.4 this year. For the second consecutive tournament, a newcomer will make his collegiate debut as freshman Jarryd Lentz will compete as UC's fifth player.

LAST TIME OUT: Freshman Joe Kastelic shot a final round 71, helping the Bearcats to a seventh place finish at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. Kastelic narrowly missed his second Top 10 finish of the year, coming home in a tie for 12th with a total of 215. UC's true freshman and team leader in average finished just one shot out of 10th. UC was seventh with an 884, five shots behind sixth place Eastern Illinois. Junior Blake Tucker matched his round two score of 73 in the finale, to end the tournament with a score of 220. UC day one leader Ryan Cahill slipped to a tie for 30th in the final rundown with a score of 221.
