TEEING OFF: After being washed out earlier this week, the University of Cincinnati men's golf team will now wrap up its fall schedule this weekend, taking part in the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge in Orlando, Fla. The annual event will bring together squads from both conference for a 54-hole, two-day event.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: A total of 12 teams (9 from the BIG EAST and 3 three from the MAC) will gather at the Cypress Hill Golf Course in Orlando, Fla. for the third annual BIG EAST/MAC Challenge, hosted by Marquette. The tournament field with current Golfweek rankings includes: Akron (98), Bowling Green (69), Cincinnati (176), Connecticut (198), DePaul (166), Marquette (74), Ohio (223), Rutgers (246), St. John's (83), Seton Hall (193), USF (130) and Villanova (233). Akron is the defending team champion after taking a two-shot win over Marquette last year.

THE LINE-UP: Cincinnati's top four players will remain the same as it has all Fall for the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge, with freshman Joe Kastelic and his team-leading 72.6 average leading the way. Redshirt freshman Ryan Cahill, perhaps the team's biggest surprise of the season, is in the two hole at 74.8, with junior Blake Tucker sharing the same average. Junior Albert Fernandez, UC's top returning player entering the fall is at 75.4 this year. For the second consecutive tournament, a newcomer will make his collegiate debut as freshman Jarryd Lentz will compete as UC's fifth player.

LAST TIME OUT: Freshman Joe Kastelic shot a final round 71, helping the Bearcats to a seventh place finish at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. Kastelic narrowly missed his second Top 10 finish of the year, coming home in a tie for 12th with a total of 215. UC's true freshman and team leader in average finished just one shot out of 10th. UC was seventh with an 884, five shots behind sixth place Eastern Illinois. Junior Blake Tucker matched his round two score of 73 in the finale, to end the tournament with a score of 220. UC day one leader Ryan Cahill slipped to a tie for 30th in the final rundown with a score of 221.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: A pair of changes have been made to the Bearcats' Spring schedule. The Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational, scheduled for March 28-29 has been cancelled. In addition, due to this week's cancelled F&M Bank Intercollegiate, another tournament will be added. Look for details on the two schedule additions to be announced at a later date.
