LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Paced by senior John Dixon (Fairfield, OH), Cincinnati's men's cross country team finished eighth out of 14 teams at the 2007 BIG EAST Conference championships. Dixon crossed the tape in 37th place with a time of 24:50 over the 8,000-meter course at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
Senior Bobby Curtis of Villanova won the men's race for his second individual BIG EAST title. Junior Melissa Grelli of Georgetown won the women's 6K race.
Louisville captured the men's team crown. The Cardinals placed four runners in the top 10 and totaled 55 points. Georgetown came in a close second at 60 points. The Hoyas also listed three runners in the top 10. The 2006 team champion Providence finished third.
The Cincinnati men amassed 237 points and placed three points ahead of Connecticut which totaled 240. Randy King (North Bend, OH) finished 43rd with a time of 24:57. Tommy Morgan (Maineville, OH) came in 49th with a time of 25:16 and Brad Neumann (Cincinnati, OH) toured the course in 25:17 to place 50th. Rick King (North Bend, OH) capped the scoring for the Bearcats in 58th with a clocking of 25:35.
West Virginia tallied 77 points to claim the BIG EAST women's cross country title. The 2006 team champion, Providence, came in a close second at 87 points.
Rookie Lilian Jelimo (Kapsabet, Kenya) placed 17th to lead Cincinnati. The newcomer toured the 6 kilometer course in 21:21. Fellow freshman Jill Glassmeyer (Cincinnati, OH) trailed by one second to place 18th. Sophomore Tamara Masters (Sylvania, OH) crossed the finish line 55th with a clocking of 22:22. In her final BIG EAST race, Jennifer Hannen (Beavercreek, OH) ran the trail in 22:30 to place 62nd. Junior Megan Knapp (Shelby, OH) placed 71st with a time of 22:53 to round out the scoring for the Bearcats.
