The University of Cincinnati Swimming and Diving teams travel to West Virginia on Friday to challenge the Mountaineers in an early season BIG EAST dual. For the Bearcats, this will be their first official meet of the season. Following the match with WVU, Cincinnati will travel north to face the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday. UC is coming off of a year in which each team had sub-.500 dual meet record. The men, 5-7 last year, and women, 2-10, are attempting to build on last year's squad that saw individual flashes of brilliance, but as a team, did not have the depth it needed to come away with victories.

Coming into this season, UC is expected to be led on the men's side by sophomores Josh Schneider and Jeremy Peter. Each made the finals of their respective events at the BIG EAST Championships, Schneider in the 50 freestyle and Peter in the 200 breaststroke. On the women's side, Sophomore Elinore de Jong, will try to step out of the shadow ,cast by older sisters Gerdien and Marein and create her own legacy here at UC. Elinore was a member of two relay teams that made it to the finals in the conference and should is a key member of a women's team looking to rebuild.

UC's next meet will be a home match with Pac-10 member Washington on Nov. 10th at 10 a.m.
