UC Drops Season-Opening Dual Meet at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, WV - The University of Cininnati swimming and diving teams opened their 2007-08 seasons on Friday (Nov. 2) at West Virginia. The men's team fell, 134.5-86.5, while the women's team dropped a 122-104 dual meet decision.

Freshman Nathan Williams (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) scored UC's first event victory of the season, winning the 1650 freestyle in 16:04.27. He also finished second in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 1:44.90, just one second after WVU all-American Nick Delic.

The women got solid contributions from the divers, as Lindsey Bakan (Miamisburg, OH/Alter) and Kirtley Krombholtz (Cincinnati, OH/Indian Hill) finished second and third, respectively in the one meter. Krombholtz finished just two points behind West Virginia's Ashley Malik in the three meter, placing second.

The Bearcats head to Pittsburgh for a Saturday afternoon affair with the Panthers on Nov. 3. UC hosts Pac-10 member Washington on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. in the home opener.
