CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati's Patrick Baxter (Cincinnati, OH/Wyoming) was named to the 2007 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's Soccer team.
Baxter, who holds a 3.62 grade point average as a business major, is the Bearcats second-leading scorer with three goals and four assists this season. A two-year starter for UC, Baxter was an NJCAA all-American at Cincinnati State in 2005 when he led the nation with 81 points (27G, 27A). He was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 24 of this season after leading the Bearcats to a pair of conference wins, scoring three goals and adding an assist. In two years with UC, Baxter has scored four goals and added six assists for 14 points, while earning BIG EAST Academic All-Star recognition in 2006-07.
District IV, into which UC falls, consists of NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
The teams are voted on by members of CoSIDA. To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team. First-team selections have the opportunity to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be released on Nov. 19.
