BLOOMINGTON, IN - Sophomore Josh Schneider (Cincinnati,OH/Taylor) led the charge for the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving squads at the three-day event hosted by Indiana University. Schneider won the 100 freestyle event with a time of 45.17. Along with the win, he also had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.
Fellow sophomore Jeremy Peter (Obernai,France/Lycee Freppel) scored two fourth place finishes in the 200 and 400 IM. His times of 1:52.87 and 4:00.42 were both personal bests on the young season. Placing one spot above Peter in the 400 IM was senior Jakub Carda (Brno,Czech Republic/Sportovni Gymnasium) with a time of 4:00.34.
In all, the men had 20 events in which they secured a top ten spot. Other finishers include: Patryk Wakula (Zabre,Poland/Somsit) who finished third in the 100 butterfly and sixth in the 200 butterfly and Nathan Williams (Cincinnati,OH/Elder) tallied a sixth placed finish in the 500 meter freestyle as well as a ninth placed finish in the 200 freestyle.
The women were led by the efforts of Elinore de Jong (Bussum,Netherlands/Goois Lyceum), Abi Bower (Pickerington,OH/Pickerington North) and Melody Smith (Williamsburg,OH/Milford) all of whom set personal bests on the season.
Cincinnati will travel to Oxford to take place in the Miami (OH) Invitational on Nov.29 through Dec. 1.
