PISCATAWAY, NJ - Noah Davidson (Westerville, OH/Westerville North) converted from the penalty spot in the 60th minute, propelling the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Rutgers on Saturday (Nov. 3) at Yurcak Field. The Bearcats (8-9-2, 5-5-1) secured the fifth spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament, while Rutgers (7-11-1, 4-7-0) was eliminated.

"This was a hard-fought win on the road against a tough Rutgers team," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "I am extremely proud of the team and its effort tonight."

Davidson gave the Bearcats the lead after Kenny Anaba (Westerville, OH/Worthington Christian) was dragged down in the box by Rutgers goalkeeper Matt VanOekel. The ball was played into Anaba, who popped a header over the head of VanOekel. As he ran to the ball, the RU keeper dragged him down, setting up the PK. Davidson has converted each of his three penalty kicks this season.

Rutgers piled up 16 shots, while UC had just three.

Miguel Rosales (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill) posted his sixth shutout of the season, making three saves. With the clean sheet, he lowered his goals against average to 0.85.

"This win puts us in the BIG EAST Tournament, which was one of our goals at the beginning of the season," Dayes said.

After hosting Providence in the BIG EAST Tournament in each of the past two seasons, the Bearcats will travel to Rhode Island to take on the Friars in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. UC did not play PC this season, but holds a 0-2-1 mark against the Friars all-time. A win would send the Bearcats to Chicago for a date with Red Division Champion DePaul.
