FOR STARTERS:
The University of Cincinnati will travel to Oxford, Ohio to take part of the Miami Invitational on Nov. 29- Dec. 1. Among the teams that will be competing at the Invitational are Cleveland State, Denison, Houston, Oakland, and Wright State.
BEARCAT BITES:
Sophomore Josh Schneider has won five individual titles this season, and his 50 and 100 meter freestyle times rank as one of the top 41 times in the nation.
19 swimmers have qualified for the BIG EAST Conference championships including freshmen; Lindsay Bakan, Laurie Caudy, Maggie Eubanks, Kirtley Krombholz, Erin Mullins, Melody Smith.
Senior Jakub Carda has won two individual events on the season, both coming against Washington. The Czech Republic native finished first in the 400 IM and 200 backstroke.
Sophomores Abi Bower and Elinore de Jong have been UC's most consistent female swimmer this season. Bower has won two individual events this season while qualifing for two BIG EAST conference meets. de Jong leads the team with the top time in four individual events.
LAST TIME AT MIAMI INVITATIONAL:
The women finished 5th out of eleven teams, while the men placed 7th out of nine teams.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Bearcats traveled to Bloomington to take part in the Indiana Invitational. UC was led by Sophomore Josh Schneider who notched the lone event win in the 100 freestyle. Along with his win, Schneider also placed second in both the 50 free and 100 fly. Other strong performaces include Jeremy Peter placed fourth in both the 200 and 400 IM. Senior Jakub Cuba placed one spot above Peter in the 400 IM. The women were led by the efforts of Elinore de Jong, Abi Bower and Melody Smith, all of whom set personal best on the short season.
UP NEXT:
Cincinnati will entertain rival and BIG EAST foe Louisville in a mid-season conference tilt. The dual will take place on Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.
