CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse and cheerleading teams assisted the annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign the weekend of Nov. 2-4 at various area Toys "R" Us stores.
The lacrosse team joined the local Marines on Friday, Nov. 2 at the Colerain Toys "R" Us store followed by the cheerleading squad at the Kenwood Toys "R" Us on Saturday, Nov. 3. Both teams provided autographs and UC prizes and assisted the local Marines in helping "Stuff The Truck" with donations of new, unwrapped toys.
Additionally, the UC Department of Athletics has chosen three home basketball games during the month of November to support the 2007 Toys for Tots campaign.
On Tuesday, Nov. 13, the UC women's basketball team will play its season opener against Michigan at 7 p.m. All fans who attend and bring a new, unwrapped toy to Fifth Third Arena will be admitted to the game for only $1.
On Monday, Nov. 26, the Cincinnati basketball programs have a doubleheader at Fifth Third Arena. At 4 p.m., the women's team takes on Presbyterian College. All fans that bring an unwrapped toy are admitted to the that game for only $1. At 7 p.m., the men's basketball team plays South Carolina Upstate. Fans are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to the men's game to support the UC student spirit group, RallyCats, in their competition against the Miami University spirit group, Red Alert.
