Oxford, OH - Cincinnati's swimming and diving teams competed this weekend in the 14th annual Miami Invitational. The men placed seventh with 669 points, while the women finished in sixth place with 852 points. Many swimmers recorded high finishes during the three-day event.

The men were led by sophomore's Jeremy Peter (Obernai,France/Lycee Freppel) and Josh Schneider (Cincinnati,OH/Taylor). Peter won the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:50.85. With the mark, he improved his personal best by two seconds on the season. He also placed third in the 200 yard breaststroke, touching the wall at a time of 2:02.66. Schneider was victorious in the 100 yard butterfly and placed third in the 100 yard freestyle. His time of 48.64 in the 100 fly was his fastest on the young season. Also capturing an individual title was freshman Nathan Williams (Cincinnati,OH/Elder). Williams won the 500 yard freestyle finishing in 4:29.25. It was the fourth time he has won an individual event this season.

Finishing two spots below Peter in the 200 IM was senior Jakub Carda (Brno,Czech Republic/Sportovini Gymnasium) in a time of 1:52.94. The time was his fastest of the season. Also placing high was freshman Patryk Wakula (Zabre,Poland/Somsit), who clocked in seven spots behind Schneider in the 100 fly, finished in 50.70.

Sophomore's led the day for the women's team as Elinore de Jong (Bussum,Netherlands/Goois Lyceum), Sarah Krone (Cincinnati,OH/Ursuline Academy), and Emma Misanik (North Canton,OH/Hoover) all had standout performances for UC. de Jong was the lone female swimmer to win an indivdual event placing first in the 100 yard butterfly. Her time of 55.77 topped her previous low by three seconds. She also placed fifth in the 100 yard freestyle; with a time of 52.06. A pair of bearcats placed together in the 200 yard breaststroke. Erin Mullins (Huber Heights,OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and Misanik placed sixth and seventh, respectively in the event.

Cincinnati will take on BIG EAST rival Louisville in a home dual at Keating Aquatics Center. The dual will take place on Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.
