CINCINNATI, OH - Sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) was named the 2007 University of Cincinnati women's soccer MVP at the annual awards banquet held Tuesday (Dec. 4).
Freshman Kendall Loggins (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) earned Newcomer of the Year honors, while senior Gigi Ernst (Plain City, OH/Bishop Watterson) and junior Jenn Johannigman (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) garnered the Player's Award and Coaches Award, respectively.
Kaminski played all but eight minutes in goal for UC, posting one shutout and a BIG EAST-leading 110 saves. She was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week and earned a spot on the SoccerBuzz Magazine Elite Team of the Week on Oct. 22 after making 26 saves in a 1-0-1 BIG EAST weekend for the Bearcats.
Loggins, the team's second-leading scorer, contributed four goals and four assists in her freshman campaign. Ernst, a four-year starter along the backline, was chosen as the team's Player of the Year by a vote of her teammates. Johannigman, who contributed four assists from her midfield position, was the Coaches Player of the Year.
Sophomore Erin MacDonald (St. Catharine's, Ontario/West Park Secondary) was honored for her all-BIG EAST selection, the first in program history. The second year forward was named to the second team after leading the Bearcats with seven goals and seven assists.
The team also received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award with a team GPA of 3.26.
