- The of 's women's tennis team opened up the 2008 portion of its schedule with a 4-3 victory over area rival . The Bearcats won the match thanks to a sweep of the three doubles matches.

The two squads split the six singles matches with 's Jennifer Keiner (6-4, 6-4), Alizee Paradis (6-0, 6-0), and Elizabeth Young (6-0, 7-5) winning for UC.

In doubles, it was the teams of Alizee Paradis/Jenny Rowen (8-4), Elizabeth Young/Jennifer Keiner (8-2), and Valeriya Dandik/Ashely Hale (9-7) that secured the tiebreaking point for the Bearcats.

"The team got off to a good start with an close win over Dayton," said head coach Kimberly Jones. "The team looks solid for being so early in the year and we look forward to watching as they mature throughout the season."

(1-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) hosts tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Queen City Racquet Club to close out the opening weekend of the spring season.
