- Athlon Sports has announced Brittany Baumann, a sophomore at the , as the winner of its 2007 Sideline Spirit Contest. Baumann, a cheerleader, won the contest sponsored by JVC after receiving over 200,000 votes.

This was the fifth year for The Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest and once again has proven to be one of the most popular programs on our website. This year's sponsor, JVC, added broad national exposure and promotion for this competition. At least thirty two spirit contestants from across the country were chosen to participate in this contest, which ran from the beginning of the college football season in September until the national championship game this January.
The program was broken up into four rounds, featuring seven cheerleaders or dancers in each round (one from each BCS conference and one non-BCS representative). Visitors to our website had the opportunity to show their school spirit by voting for their favorite spirit contestant. Lively message boards brought out the very best in school spirit and the rivalry of college sports. At the conclusion of the regular season, spirit contestants advanced to our championship round, which was held during the bowl season. The winner of the championship round was then titled the overall winner of the contest.
Again we congratulate Brittany Baumann and the and look forward to next year's competition.
