NEW YORK - Monica Hundley (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) won a BIG EAST title in the 60 meter hurdles, leading the University of Cincinnati to a 10th-place finish at the 2008 BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday (Feb. 24) at the New Balance Track and Field Center at the Armory.

"We had some freshman come through and Monica scored big for us," head coach Jim Schnur said. "We had a really good meet, we scored a few more points than last year despite the loss of two BIG EAST champs due to graduation."

Hundley broke her own school record for the second straight day, shaving a tenth of a second off of her preliminary time by bolting to an 8.31 finish. The mark meets the provisional standard for the NCAA Indoor Championships next month. Freshman Kaylon Eppinger (Warrensville Heights, OH/Warrensville Heights) finished fifth in a season-best 8.62.

Freshman Natasha Burse (Garland, TX/Richardson) finished fourth in the 60 meter dash with a 7.64.

A day after shattering her own school record in the 5,000 meters, Lilian Jelimo (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Girls) broke her own school mark in the 3,000 meters with a 9:43.45 to finish ninth. Teammate Jill Glassmeyer (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) finished 12th in the event, crossing the line in 9:51.27.

The 4x400 relay team of Courtney Wicks (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/St. Vincent-St. Mary), Sharika Thompson (La Mesa, CA/Helix), Burse, and Ashley Arnold (Huber Heights, OH/Wayne) broke a school record by sprinting to a 3:46.32 to finish sixth.

The Bearcats finished with 35 points, just behind Syracuse (39 points) and Seton Hall (40). The University of Connecticut took home the team title with 103.5 points.

The Bearcats will have a final chance to meet qualifying standards for the NCAA Championships at the Notre Dame Qualifier on March 7-8.
