RIO VERDE, AZ - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team shot a 311 in the opening round of the Rio Verde Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The Bearcats finished the day tied for 13th place with Missouri State.
Cincinnati was led by the efforts of freshman Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Phillipines/Miriam College), who shot an one-over, 73 for the day, placing her in a tie for eighth place. Dela Paz got off to a slow start shooting a bogey on her first hole, but rebounded by taking advantage of two short par-4's on holes number 11 and 12.
Five strokes behind Dela Paz sits Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) with a six-over, 78. A trio of Bearcats stand at plus-eight as Jenny Linville (West Chester, OH/Lakota West), Allison Mayborg (Monroe, OH/Ursuline Academy) and Hillery Wilson (Hudson, OH/Hudson) all shot an 80 on day one.
