CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped its third straight against a ranked opponent, falling to No. 6/5 Syracuse, 23-4, on Sunday (March 30) afternoon at Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats wore pink uniforms in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Lindsey Marshall (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Davidson) scored her fourth hat trick of the season and pushed her team-leading goal total to 15.
Syracuse (8-2) scored just 36 seconds into the game on a Katie Rowan free position shot and the Bearcats (1-8) tied it up moments later as Steph Cox (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) scored on a free position shot at the 2:22 mark.
The Orange scored the next 16 goals to take a 17-1 lead just before halftime.
Marshall scored her first goal at the 29:05 mark of the first half to cut the deficit to 17-2 heading into the locker room.
Marshall scored twice more to start the second half and bring the Bearcats to within 17-4, but that was as close as UC would get.
Syracuse scored the final six goals, including Katie Rowan's fifth and sixth goals of the game, to produce the final margin.
Along with Rowan's six goals, Christina Dove and Kristin Brady each recorded hat tricks for the Orange.
Following the game, the Bearcats hosted a free clinic for area youth teams which included technical training and shooting drills.
The Bearcats will travel back to Baltimore for the second time in eight days for a date with Loyola (MD) on April 4 at 3 p.m.
