COLUMBUS, OH - University of Cincinnati swimming standouts Jakub Carda (Brno, Czech Republic/Sportovni Gymnasium) and Josh Schneider (Cincinnati, OH/Taylor) finished fifth in the 400 IM and 50 freestyle, respectively, at the 2008 US Swimming Toyota Grand Prix Series event at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Saturday (April 5).

Carda was fifth in the 400 IM, finishing behind world record holder and Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps. Carda swam a 4:28.98 on the long course.

Schneider, who earned NCAA all-America honors last weekend in the 50 freestyle, finished fifth (22.81) in a star-studded field that featured a couple of former NCAA champions and the U.S. record holder.

Former Bearcat Enrique Bayata is competing in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke. He qualified for the 100 meter back finals, which will be held on Sunday, with a 58.93. Prelims for the 200 back will take place on Sunday as well.
