- The men's and women's track and field teams captured team titles at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Saturday (April 5) afternoon at Gettler Stadium.

The men's team posted 203 points to easily top second-place (130). The UC women put up 243 points, besting (105) and (97).

Antione Drakeford (/Africentric) was the top performer for the men's squad, racing to a 46.61 finish in the 400 meters, winning the event and meeting the Mideast Regional qualifying mark. Drakeford also won the 200 meters in 21.69.

Lilian Jelimo (/Kapsabet Girl's) highlighted the women's scorers, winning the 5,000 meters in 16:57.33. Her mark toppled P.J. Ball's school-record 17:05.54, which was set in 2001. Teammate Jill Glassmeyer (/McAuley) was second in 17:13.52.

Shane Shockey (, /Bluffton) and Ian Jarman (Felicity, OH/Felicity ) met regional qualifying marks for the Bearcats. Shockey finished second in the pole vault, clearing a career-best 16' 6-3/4". Jarman tossed the hammer 183' 11" for the second straight week to finish fourth.

Monica Hundley (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield), the BIG EAST Indoor 60 meter hurdles champion, qualified for the Mideast Regional Championships in the 100 hurdles with a season-best 13.90. Teammate Kaylon Eppinger (/Warrensville) was second in 14.60. Sharika Thompson (/Helix) posted a 1:01.63 in the 400 hurdles to take the event title.

Former Bearcat Mary Wineberg posted the fastest time in the world thus far this season in the 400 meters by racing to a 51.22. Current Bearcats Ashley Arnold (, /) and Courtney Wicks (/St. Vincent-St. Mary's) each bested their personal bests by over a full second. was the top finisher with a 55.48, while Wicks was right behind in 55.54.

Brittany Klima (Ottoville, OH/Ottoville) matched her season-best in the pole vault, clearing 12' 7-1/2" and meeting a regional qualifying mark to win the vault for the third straight meet.

The Bearcats men again performed well in the throws with freshmen Brian Zimmerman (, /Fremont), Troy Cooper (, /Bishop Brossart) and Chris Littleton (/Harrison) leading the charge. Zimmerman won the javelin with a career-best 188' 8" throw, while Cooper was second in the shot with a personal-best 54' 4". posted his personal best in the discus with a 160' 8" heave, good for fourth.

UC will travel to , for the competitive Sea Ray Relays April 9-12 before returning to Gettler Stadium to host the All-Ohio Championships on April 18-19.
