Dela Paz Wins Second Straight Tournament

URBANA, Ill. - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team shot a season low 294 on the final day of the Illini Spring Classic to finish in a tie for second place. The event was scheduled to play 36-holes on Saturday due to poor weather conditions during the first round. Cincinnati shot a 312 in the first 18 holes of the day an improvement of 13 strokes over their previous days total.

Cincinnati was led by freshman Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Phillipines/Miriam College), who was victorious for the second-consecutive tournament. After an opening round 78, Dela Paz shot a 77 and 73 on Saturday to finish with a score of a plus-12, 228 for the Classic.

Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Valley Grammar School) continued her hot play of late by shooting a 235 for the classic. Her scores of 78 and 75 on the second day placed her in a tie for 13th place. Moore's round of 75 is a season best mark.

One shot behind Moore sits Marianne Erb (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) who finished with a 236. Erb led the Bearcats for most birdies with 7, tied for most in field. Her efforts placed her in a tie for 16th place.

Rounding out the classic for the Bearcats were Allison Mayborg (Monroe, OH/Ursuline Academy) and Hillery Wilson (Hudson, OH/Hudson) who shot a 237 and 238, respectively.

The Bearcats will next travel to Muncie, Ind. to take part in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State University on Apr. 13 and 14.
