KNOXVILLE, TN - Monica Hundley (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) and Antione Drakeford (Columbus, OH/Africentric) highlighted the University of Cincinnati's participation at the competitive Sea Ray Relays on Saturday, April 12, at Tom Black Track.
Hundley broke her own school record in the 100 hurdles with a regional-qualifying time of 13.66 to finish sixth in a star-studded field. Freshman Kaylon Eppinger (Warrensville Heights, OH/Warrensville Heights) was 15th, finishing in 14.01.
Drakeford improved upon his regional qualifying mark and came within .02 of a school record in the 400 meters, finishing second in 46.44. Jeff Walker set the UC mark in 1979 with a 46.42.
Troy Lammers (New Bremen, OH/New Bremen) placed ninth in the 400 hurdles, sprinting to a 53.41 finish.
A week after meeting the regional qualifying mark in the pole vault, Shane Shockey (Bluffton, OH/Bluffton) posted a 16' 0-3/4" to finish fourth in the open pole vault competition. Brandon Fitch (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) met his personal best in the high jump, clearing 6' 10-3/4" - a regional qualifier.
Freshman Brian Zimmerman (Sarver, PA/Freeport) posted a season-best 196' 7", finishing eighth in the javelin invitational.
For the women, Jasmine Cotten (Fayetteville, WV/Fayetteville) and Melissa Brankamp (Middletown, OH/Lakota West) each cleared 5' 5" in the high jump and Brittany Klima (Ottoville, OH/Ottoville) cleared 12' 3-1/2" in the pole vault.
The Bearcats will return to Gettler Stadium to host the All-Ohio Championships on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19.
