CINCINNATI -- Prior to the University of Cincinnati's baseball game on April 19 against Georgetown University, UC Athletics will remember, and honor, former baseball player and long-time friend of the department and the baseball program, Fred Braun.

Braun was a friend of the University and its athletics programs for many years, dating back to his days as an undergraduate. He played on the baseball team from 1945-48 and graduated from the UC College of Law in 1956. Braun was a past President of

C-Club, Cincinnati's organization of former letter winners, and served on its Board of Director's for over 40 years.

A season ticket holder for Bearcats football and men's basketball for many years, Braun had been a UCATS donor since its inception. A Life Member of the UC Alumni Association, he was also a Life Benefactor of the University and the George D. Smith Society member within UCATS.

Braun, who passed way in January, served on the UC College of Law Alumni Association Board after establishing a scholarship in the college with his wife, Carol Friel. He contributed to the Richard E. Lindner Varsity Village campaign and also fully funded a baseball scholarship. Braun was a dedicated fan and supporter of Bearcats baseball.

Fans and friends are encouraged to join us as we remember Braun prior to Saturday afternoon's game vs. Georgetown. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
