CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team is in third place at the BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship after scoring a 306/+18 in the first round at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio. is the host institution for both the men's and women's championships which run Sunday, April 20 through Tuesday, April 22.

The Bearcats trail Notre Dame, who is in first place with a 296/+8 and second-place who posted a 302/+14.

Junior Marianne Erb (/Anderson) led the Bearcats with a first-round 74/+2, one stroke off her season-low round. Senior Allison Mayborg (Monroe, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and freshman Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Phillipines/Miriam College) were two strokes behind Erb with matching 76's and are tied for eighth place, individually. Freshman Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Valley Grammar School), who posted an 80/+8, and senior Hillery Wilson (/ Hudson), who was one stroke back (81/+9), are tied for 21st and 26th, respectively.

The second round of the BIG EAST Women's Championship tees off tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at Elks Run. Fans can follow the round with live scoring of every nine holes on the BIG EAST's Golf Central Page at www.bigeast.org or at www.golfstats.com.
