Bearcats Tie Jaguars In Literacy Classic

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team recently traveled to participate in the Literacy Classic against IUPUI on Friday (Apr. 18). The Bearcats despite many scoring opportunities, tied the Jaguars 0-0.



Cincinnati's best scoring chance came late in the first half when Brandon Stelmak's (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) chip outside the box hit the crossbar.



The second half provided more of the same from the Bearcats as they created multiple scoring opportunities but the Jaguar defense held and the game ended in a scoreless tie.



Goalkeeper's Matt Williams (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) and Miguel Rosales (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill) each shared time in the shutout.



With the tie, UC moves to 1-1-3 in the spring, head coach Hylton Dayes on the match, "Even though the final result was a goalless draw, we were pleased with the number of quality chances we created. We now need to improve on our finishing."



Cincinnati will next participate in the Blue Chip Classic against Wright State on April 26 scheduled for a 5 p.m. kick. The game will take place at Xavier University.
