CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's golf team finished the 2008 BIG EAST Championship in third place, shooting a final round score of 304. For the tournament, UC shot a plus-56, 920; 21 strokes behind BIG EAST Champion Notre Dame's score of 899.
Leading the Bearcats on the final day was senior Allison Mayborg (Monroe, OH/Ursuline Academy). Her round of plus-two, 74 was tied for the lowest Bearcat round in the Championship. Mayborg shot even over the front-nine, and stayed that way until the final two holes on the course, as she bogeyed each to finish two-over. For the Championship, Mayborg finished in a tie for 15th place, shooting a 233, plus-17.
Finishing in a tie for 12th position were freshmen Bambee Dela Paz (Caloocan City, Phillippines/ Miriam College) and Kate Moore (Shepparton, Australia/Goulburn Valley Grammar School), each ending with a score of 232, plus-16. Dela Paz's final round score of plus-three was her lowest of the tournament. Moore, rebounded from her first nine holes, to shot a plus-one on the back nine.
Matching Mayborg's final score of 233 was senior Hillery Wilson (Hudson, OH/Hudson). Wilson shot a third round total plus-six, 78. She played the front nine well going out with a score of minus-two but coming in Wilson found trouble and shot a back nine score of plus-eight to finish at six-over.
