April 20, 2008

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team dropped a hotly-contested match against neighboring Miami (OH) on Sunday (Apr. 20). The game, which was plagued by rain for most of the match, was won by the RedHawks by a 1-0 margin.

The lone goal in the match came in the 50th minute of play, when a RedHawk forward was able to put away a ball in the box against UC goalkeeper Brittney Hansen (Toledo, OH/St Ursula Academy).

The Bearcats outshot Miami (OH) on the day, posting a 8-6 advantage.

Head coach Michelle Salmon on the match, "One of the things we take from today's performance is a lesson in consistency. As we move forward in competition for BIG EAST Championship, the biggest thing we have to learn is how to play more consistently. Today was a great learning lesson for us as a team, because we have to show up every single today in order to get better."

The Bearcats next travel to play against Xavier on Saturday (Apr. 26) scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
