LOUISVILLE, KY - Lindsey Marshall (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Davidson) posted her sixth hat trick of the season, but the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped its final game of its inagural season, 16-10, at Louisville.

The Bearcats (2-14) were led by Marshall's three goals and got two from Allison Bell (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore).

After Louisville (11-4) opened the scoring with a Emily Dashiell goal in the first two minutes, Lynsey Burton (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) tied it up at the 23:42 mark. The Cardinals scored the next eight goals, including three from Liz Lovejoy, to take a 9-1 lead.

Shannon Lynes (Ellicott, MD/River Hill) snapped the run with her 12th goal of the season, but UL scored the next two to open up an 11-2 lead. Marshall scored three of the next four goals to cut the Cardinals lead to 12-5. Lovejoy's fourth goal of the game gave Louisville a 13-5 lead at the half.

Three Cardinals goals to open the second half pushed the lead to 16-5. UC scored the next five goals - including Bell's two - to produce the final margin.

Haley Marvine (Alpharetta, GA/Chattahoochee) earned the start in goal for the Bearcats in the season finale, making nine saves.

Marshall finished the season with 30 goals to lead the team, while Burton (19 goals), Lynes (12 goals) and Jamie Desautels (Westminster, MD/Westminster) (10 goals) each finished in double figures in goals scored. Desautels was also the team leader in assists with seven.

UC and UL each spent the 2008 season as independents and will join the BIG EAST during the 2009 season.
