CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati's 2008 women's soccer schedule features seven non-conference matchups against teams from Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky as well as conference matches against NCAA participants Louisville, Notre Dame, Connecticut and Georgetown.
UC opens head coach Michelle Salmon's first season with a four-match homestand featuring matches against Bowling Green (Aug. 22), Wright State (Aug. 24), Michigan (Aug. 29) and Kentucky (Sept. 2).
The Bearcats then hit the road for five straight. Trips to Miami (OH) (Sept. 5) and Dayton (Sept. 9) precede the crosstown rivalry match against Xavier in the non-conference finale, which will be held on Sept. 12 at the XU Soccer Complex.
"We look forward to our challenging fall schedule against some of the best teams in our region," said Salmon. "We are excited to be hosting both Michigan and Kentucky, both of whom will challenge us as we take our program to the next level."
The BIG EAST opener pits longtime rivals as the Bearcat travel to Louisville to take on the Cardinals on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. UC wraps up its season-long five-match road trip at DePaul on Sept. 26.
National semifinalist Notre Dame visits Gettler Stadium on Sept. 28 followed by Providence (Oct. 3) and NCAA quarterfinalist Connecticut (Oct. 5). "The BIG EAST is one of the best conferences in the country," Salmon added. "We are excited to be hosting two of the final eight teams from a year ago at Gettler Stadium, giving the Cincinnati community the opportunity to see high-level soccer while we compete for a BIG EAST championship."
