CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati track and field and cross country runner Randy King (North Bend, OH/St. Xavier) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic all-District IV team. The junior harrier holds a 3.99 GPA in electrical engineering.
King has garnered numerous academic awards during his tenure at UC, being inducted into UC's Legion of Excellence following his freshman year. He has earned Topcat Scholar accolades (3.5 GPA or higher) each quarter. A BIG EAST Academic All-Star each of his three campaigns, King has been named the UC Track and Field/Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Quarter six times thus far.
King finished 43rd at the 2007 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships and was UC's top finisher, finishing 47th, at the Great Lakes Regional Championships. During the track season, he competed in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters.
District IV consists of all NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. King is now nominated for Academic All-America. The team will be announced on June 23.
