DES MOINES, IA - University of Cincinnati track and field standouts Brandon Fitch (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) and Brittany Klima (Ottoville, OH/Ottoville) saw their 2008 seasons come to an end in preliminaries at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday (June 11) evening at Drake Stadium.
Fitch was unable to clear the initial height in the high jump, set at 6' 8-3/4". The BIG EAST champion finished his sophomore season with three event crowns and a third-place finish at the regional championships.
Klima just missed moving into the finals as she missed on her three attempts at 13' 5-1/4". She finished in a tie for 15th as the top 14 vaulters qualified for finals. The senior closes her career as the top vaulter in UC history, holding both the indoor (13' 3-1/2") and outdoor (13' 7-3/4") school records. She won the 2007 BIG EAST outdoor championship and finished second at the 2008 indoor championships.
The Bearcats sent multiple participants to the NCAA Championships for the fifth straight season.
