EUGENE, OR - David Payne became the second former Bearcat to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team after finishing third in the 110-meter hurdles at the U.S. Olypic Trials on Sunday (July 6) night at historic Hayward Field.

Payne crossed the finish line in 13.25, behind David Oliver (12.95) and Terrence Trammell (13.00), who will join Payne as U.S. representatives in Beijing in August.

Payne joins former Bearcat Mary Wineberg, who made the Olympic team in the 400 meters on Friday night, finishing second in her event.

The 2008 Olympics begin with opening ceremonies on August 8. Track and field events begin on Aug. 15 and finish on Aug. 24 along with the closing ceremonies.
