CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati head lacrosse coach Lellie Swords has announced the hiring of Lauren Schwarzmann, a former standout at Johns Hopkins, as assistant coach.
A four-year starter and four-time all-conference selection for the Blue Jays, Schwarzmann was on the Teewarton Trophy (the top individual award in women's lacrosse) watch list in 2008. An all-region selection in 2007 as a midfielder, she was selected to play in the North/South College Senior All-Star game and was a member of the U.S. National Development team in 2007-08. Schwarzmann finished her Johns Hopkins career with 79 goals, 39 assists and 118 points, ranking in the Top 10 in school history in all three categories.
"We are thrilled to have Lauren join our staff," said Swords. "She had an outstanding four-year playing career at Johns Hopkins and as a current member of the U.S. Developmental Team she will bring a wealth of playing experience to the Bearcats."
Schwarzmann has played for and coached with Swords when the two were at Hopkins. Swords was an associate head coach with the Blue Jays and the Director of the Jays Lacrosse club team, a middle school girls squad. Schwarzmann was recruited by Swords to JHU and was an assistant for the club team.
"Having worked with Lauren at Hopkins, I know the passion, dedication and hard work that she will bring to Cincinnati," Swords continued.
Schwarzmann graduated in the spring of 2008 with a degree in public health studies. She will handle the offensive coordinator duties at UC as well as individual player development, video exchange, fundraising and aid in recruiting.
