CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati Director of Athletics Mike Thomas announced that UC has worked with Virginia Tech University to move the schools’ scheduled 2009 football game to a yet to be determined season. The move was made to accommodate additional national media exposure for both programs.
“As the director of athletics, you are always looking for more opportunities to expose your football program and the University to a national television audience as it helps recruitment, enrollment, and awareness,” says UC Director of Athletics Mike Thomas. “This ended up being a win-win situation for both schools. In the end, UC maintains its game contract with Virginia Tech and adds a nationally televised football game vs. a BCS (Bowl Championship Series) opponent in Nippert Stadium next year.”
The UC Department of Athletics is currently working with the BIG EAST office and its television partners to fill the vacated spot with a potential BCS opponent.
