WEST HARRISON, Ind. - Following a Sunday break for Meet The Team Day, the University of Cincinnati football team was back on the field Monday for two practices, its third of five two-a-day sessions at Higher Ground Conference Center.
The Bearcats worked through a pair of two-hour sessions under sunny skies. Consistency and execution were the focus of both workouts as UC moves closer every day to the Aug. 28 season opener against Eastern Kentucky at 7:30 in Nippert Stadium.
"It's still too early to slot guys, but we're starting to focus in on the group we're going to get better with," head coach Brian Kelly said. "We're cleaning up a lot of errors and trying to get some consistency. Now that we've installed most of our offensive and defensive systems we want to become better in our decision making and be aware of what we're doing."
Kelly went on to emphasize the second-week points of consistency and execution.
"Clearly, we think we've got enough talent, but we need them to execute," Kelly said. "We want to see the execution over the individual installation. We want to see the guys that can pick things up and execute on a day-to-day basis."
The Bearcats will take part in Media Day Tuesday with a single workout scheduled for the afternoon. Players will take individual head shots as well as position group photos, a team photo and various video pieces to be shown throughout the year during home games at Nippert Stadium.
