WEST HARRISON, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati football team moved closer towards breaking fall camp with its fourth of five two-a-day practice sessions, Wednesday on day 12 of training camp at the Higher Ground Conference Center.

The defensive backs and wide receivers spent some time in one-on-one drills while the offensive and defensive lines worked on blocking schemes. After some situational special teams work, the team closed out the morning session with short yardage and 11-on-11 drills.

During the short-yardage drills, a good number of the defensive regulars were rotated out, giving the second and third team a chance to make an impact.

"We've got great depth defensively," head coach Brian Kelly said. "There may be a time this year when we have to play without Connor Barwin, DeAngelo Smith or our other top guys. We took a lot of the number one guys out in the goal line scrimmage because we need to be able to count on everyone to step up if we need them. It's next man in and a great opportunity for us to teach our guys a little bit more about overcoming adversity."

The afternoon session focused on more individual and situational work.

The Bearcats will hold a single practice Friday at 9:15 a.m. before the final two-a-day practice of fall camp, Friday at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

UC opens the 2008 season on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. against Eastern Kentucky in Nippert Stadium. For tickets and information, call 1-877-CATS-TIX or log on to www.CATSTIX.com.
