WEST HARRISON, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati football team had a single two-hour workout under sunny skies Thursday at the Higher Ground Conference Center.
UC focused on refining their offensive and defensive game plans, spending extensive time in 11-on-11 drills. Near the end of the session, the Bearcats worked on overtime situations, practicing scoring against the clock and working on the two-point conversion.
"I think all of these situations have to be practiced to some extent," head coach Brian Kelly said. "The best thing is to not get into overtime obviously. There were a number of overtime games in college football last season, including some ending in four and five overtimes. All of these sessions are teaching lessons for our football team."
The Bearcats will spend the afternoon lifting weights and attending meetings ahead of the final two-a-day practice session Friday. UC hits the fields at Higher Ground for workouts at 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday.
UC opens the 2008 season on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. against Eastern Kentucky in Nippert Stadium. For tickets and information, call 1-877-CATS-TIX or log on to www.CATSTIX.com.
