BEIJING - Former University of Cincinnati women's track and field athlete Mary Wineberg ran the opening leg of the women's 4x400 meter relay at National Stadium Friday evening, leading Team USA out of the gates to a season-best first-place time of 3:22.45.
Wineberg ran the opening leg of the relay and was followed in order by Monique Henderson, Natasha Hastings and DeeDee Trotter.
Russia finished in first place in the first heat followed by Cuba, Great Britain and Germany. The United States crossed the line first in the second heat followed by Jamaica, Belarus and Nigeria.
