Aug. 24, 2008
CINCINNATI - The University Of Cincinnati Department of Athletics has designated the 2008 football home opener on Aug. 28 in Nippert Stadium against Eastern Kentucky as Hometown Heroes Night.
The evening's theme recognizes the contributions of the men and women of the Tri-State area who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their service to our country and the Cincinnati community.
Fans can visit the FAMILY ZONE festivities from 5-7 p.m. to view several Hometown Hero related activities. The American Red Cross will be on site with their emergency-response-vehicle (ERV). The ARMY ROTC and AIR FORCE will have fan interactive displays located on O'Varsity Way.
Skydivers from Team Fastrax and www.startskydiving.com will be delivering the game ball and the coin for the coin toss (weather permitting). The ARMY and AIR FORCE ROTC will be presenting the recipients of their 2008-2009 scholarships.
Friends and families of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be our special "Hometown Hero Tunnel" guest.
