DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - University of Cincinnati head golf coach Janet Carl has been named the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Midwest Section Coach of the Year presented by Etonic. This is the third sectional honor for Carl, who was also named LPGA National Coach of the Year in 2006.

"It is an honor to be voted as the Midwest Section Coach of the Year for the third time in my career," said Carl. "It is humbling for my fellow LPGA members to nominate and then select me for this award."

Carl, in her sixth season as head coach at Cincinnati, also earned the recognition in 2002 and 2006. She led the Bearcats to a third-place finish at the 2008 BIG EAST Championship, held in April.

The LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) membership's five sections - Central, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast and Western - annually select winners in each of the three categories. Among the sectional winners in each category, the LPGA T&CP Executive Committee selects the overall national award winner.

"
It is wonderful that such a nationally-renowned organization recognizes the continued success of our program," Carl continued. "It is a tribute to the committed student-athletes, in and out of the classroom, because without their hard work and desire to improve, I would not receive this award."
