The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team begins its chase for a BIG EAST Championship as it travels to rival Louisville to take on the Cardinals at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.

The Bearcats are led by first year head coach Michelle Salmon. Salmon has compiled a 4-3 record in her first season at the helm and her guidance has resulted in a more prolific scoring attack, as the Bearcats have outshot their opponents in all but one match.

Freshman Julie Morrissey(Abington, Mass./Tabor Academy) leads the Bearcats in points this season with eight (3G, 2A). Morrissey tallied the game-winning goals against Xavier and in the season opener against Bowling Green. She is tied for seventh in the BIG EAST in points and tied for ninth in goals.

Junior Erin MacDonald (St. Catherine's, Ont./West Park Secondary), an all-BIG EAST selection in 2007, is second on the team in points with seven (2G, 3A). MacDonald leads the team in minutes played and has taken the second most shots on the team with 21.

Defenders Kim Sykes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore), Heather Neiser (Batavia, Ohio/St. Ursula) and Lindsey Noteboom (Hurst, Texas/Birdville) have a combined 160 games started to anchor the back line for Cincinnati. Sykes (60 games) and Neiser (42) have started every match of their Cincinnati career and Noteboom (58) has started all but two games.

Sophomore Kendall Loggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) despite not starting a match for Cincinnati, is tied for third on the team with five points (2G, 1A). Loggins had a hand in the 3-2 OT win against Miami (Ohio) as she put in the game-winner with 29 seconds left in overtime. She also assisted on a goal to Morrissey earlier in the match.

Senior midfielder Jenn Johannigman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) has five points this season (2G, 1A), scoring her first goal since her freshman campaign against Wright State (Aug. 24) and putting away the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Michigan (Aug. 29). She earned a BIG EAST Honor Roll selection for the week of Sept. 1.

Goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) has a 1.20 goals-against average this season and owns a 4-2 win-loss record. Kaminski has started every game in goal in 2008 and has played every half but one, saving 23 shots. Kaminski recorded her first shutout of season stopping Xavier from finding the back of the net.

Look for the Bearcats to strike early as they have outscored their opponents in the first half by a margin of 9-6 and have outshot them in the same frame, 60-39.
