MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) finished tied for second at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational at the Delaware Country Club on Tuesday (Sept. 23).
UC finished seventh in the team competition with a three-round total of 293-289-293=875. Eastern Kentucky (290-287-280=857) won the team title, followed by host Ball State (290-286-290=866).
Kastelic carded a second-round 66, tied for the lowest round in the tournament, and finished 71-66-72=209. The individual champ was EKU's Jesse Massie, who shot a five-under 71-66-68=205.
Senior Alberto Fernandez (Gijorn, Spain/La Corrolla) tied for 12th with a 73-71-73=217, while Nick Proud (Middletown, Ohio/Lakota East) (76-75-73=224) placed 44th and Jerryd Lentz (Monroe, Ohio/Fenwick) (73-80-75=228) was 50th.
The Bearcats will head to Louisville, Ky., for the Louisville Invitational on Sept. 29-30.
