Final Results

CINCINNATI - Senior Alberto Fernandez (Gijon, Spain/La Corolla) finished one over (72-71-74=217) and the University of Cincinnati men's golf team placed 16th at the Xavier Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 14) at the Oasis Golf Club.

UC finished with a three-round total of 306-291-292=889, one shot clear of Ohio (295-297-298=890) and four shots ahead of BIG EAST foe Georgetown (288-304-301=893). Eastern Kentucky (282-278-286=846) won the team title by five shots over Marquette (282-286-283=851).

Fernandez placed 29th in the individual competition, which was won by Marquette's Mike Van Sickle, who fired rounds of 64, 68, and 67 to finish the tournament at 17 under par.

Sophomore Joe Kastelic (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard) finished at four over (77-72-71=220) to place 38th. Jarryd Lentz (Monroe, Ohio/Fenwick) shot a consistent 226, with rounds of 74, 76, and 76 to finish 69th.

Ryan Cahill (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) carded a third-round 71 after shooting 83 and 78 in the first two rounds, respectively. His 232 total was good for 88th place.

The Bearcats head to Clarksville, Tenn., for the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on Oct. 20-21.
