CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with Providence College on Friday night at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats (5-5-1, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) outshot the Friars (5-3-2, 0-2-2 BIG EAST), 22-4, but were only able to capitalize one time.

"We played our best soccer to date," said first year head coach Michelle Salmon. "The bottom line is, we had 22 shots and nine corners. We have to find the back of the net. Give credit to their goalkeeper. She had the game of her life, and she had to. At the end of the day, we have to execute. Not just in the final third, because we are getting there. But we have to execute on the finishing aspect of it."

UC took a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute of the first half when Kendall Loggins (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) fed Kristin May (Hudson, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) who tucked her shot into the top left corner, giving the Bearcats a 1-0 lead at the half.

Cincinnati maintained its lead through the second half until the 61st minute when Jill Camburn got a pass just inside the box from Nicole Benko, took one dribble and drilled a shot off the right goal post that deflected into the goal.

Neither team was able to score in the first, or second overtime but UC outshot PC, 4-1, in the overtime periods. PC's Jill Schott finished the game with nine saves in goal.

"Tomorrow we come out, we prepare for UConn, and we move forward," said Salmon. "This is a game we can't get back, no matter how disappointing the result is."

The Bearcats play another BIG EAST match on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. when they take on Connecticut at Gettler Stadium.
