CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati women's soccer defender Kim Sykes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) was named to the 2008 College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District second team.

Sykes, a senior defender and three-year team captain, earned her third straight CoSIDA honor. A journalism major with a 3.98 grade point average, she was named to the second team as a sophomore and junior. Sykes has started every game of her four-year career on the UC backline and has one goal and two assists to her credit.

District IV, into which UC falls, consists of NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. This is the fourth straight year a Bearcat has been honored.

The teams are voted on by members of CoSIDA. To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.
