PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After helping the University of Cincinnati's volleyball team extend its winning streak to 12 matches and record a 2-0 mark last week, freshman Missy Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) was named BIG EAST Volleyball Freshman of the Week, while senior Jessie Nevitt (Kennesaw, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain) earned a BIG EAST honor roll selection, the conference office announced on Monday, Nov. 3. It is the third time this season that Harpenau has been selected as the BIG EAST Volleyball Freshman of the Week.

In Cincinnati's dramatic five-set come-from-behind win over USF on Friday, Oct. 31, Harpenau recorded 13 kills and 15 digs for her fifth kill-dig double-double of the season. Harpenau also registered three assists, three service aces, and four blocks against the Bulls. Against Georgetown, Harpenau posted nine kills, five digs, two blocks, two assists, and a service ace. For the week, the Cincinnati native averaged 2.75 kps, 2.50 dps, 0.75 bps, 0.62 aps and 0.50 sa/s.

Harpenau previously earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on Oct. 13 and Oct. 20.

Nevitt led the Red and Black in hitting percentage for the week after hitting at a .531 clip. In two matches, Nevitt had 27 kills on 49 attempts and committed just one error. Against USF, Nevitt smashed 16 kills to the floor and added nine total blocks, falling one block shy of her second kill-block double-double of the season. In the weekend finale versus Georgetown, Nevitt added a match-high 11 kills and tied a career-high with six digs. For the week, Nevitt averaged 3.38 kps, 1.62 bps, and 4.40 points per set.

Cincinnati travels to West Virginia and Pittsburgh for its final conference road tests of the season. The Bearcats and Mountaineers square off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, before the Red and Black meet Pittsburgh at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9.
