LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the first time this season, the University of Cincinnati volleyball team received votes in the Bison/AVCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on Monday, Nov. 3. The voting is comprised of Division I volleyball coaches across the country and the Bearcats earned four votes.
Cincinnati has a 22-5 record and a 9-2 BIG EAST mark this season and UC has won 12 straight matches.
Penn State retained the top spot in the poll, followed by Stanford at No. 2, Nebraska at No. 3, Texas at No. 4, and Washington at No. 5. Two Bearcat opponents from earlier in the season, Hawai'i and Minnesota, are ranked No. 7 and No. 17, respectively.
UAB, who UC plays in Birmingham, Ala., on Nov. 28, received 38 votes.
Cincinnati travels to West Virginia and Pittsburgh for its final conference road tests of the season. The Bearcats and Mountaineers square off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, before the Red and Black meet Pittsburgh at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9.
