BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team wrapped up its first day of competition at the Hoosierland Invitational at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.

The meet continues tomorrow and runs through Sunday. Participating swim teams include Indiana, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Truman State.

Jeremy Peter (Obernai, France/Lycee Freppel) was second in the 200-yard individual medley, covering the course in 1:49.66. Jakub Carda (Brno, Czech Repulic/Sportovni Gymnasium) placed fourth in the same event, touching in at 1:52.11.

Josh Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio/Taylor) was second in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 19.93, just behind Louisville's Andrei Radzionau who won the event with a time of 19.88. Matt Hays won the D final in 21.79.

The 200-yard freestyle relay quartet of Liz Hansson (Lund, Sweden/St. Petri), Elinore de Jong (Bussum, Netherlands/Goois Lyceum), Lange Gilby (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor), and Amy Billow (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy) placed sixth in 1:36.67. The men's group of Schneider, Peter, Hays, and Patryk Wakula (Zabre, Poland/Somsit) clocked in at 1:24.84 in the same event, placing seventh.

Nathan Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was second in the consolation final of the 500 freestyle with a 4:29.94 clocking.

The 400-yard medley team of Hansson, Emma Misanik (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover), de Jong, and Gilby placed ninth in 3:55.33 and the men's quartet of Peter, Rob Langford (Mason, Ohio/St. Xavier), Wakula, and Schneider clocked 3:28.83 to finish seventh.
