CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team has earned a berth in the 2008 BIG EAST Championship and will open the tournament at Georgetown on Thursday, Nov. 6.
The Bearcats are making their fourth consecutive trip to the BIG EAST Championship, holding a 1-3-0 mark in tournament matches since joining the league in 2005.
UC, the sixth seed in the Red Division, finished the regular season with a 7-9-2 overall record and a 4-6-1 mark in league play. The youthful Bearcats, with a roster featuring 15 freshmen and 17 newcomers, have won four of six matches, including three of the last four BIG EAST contests.
Georgetown, the third seed in the Blue Division, holds a 10-4-3 overall mark and finished BIG EAST play at 5-3-3.
This will be UC's first trip to Georgetown and just the third match against the Hoyas all-time. Last season, UC defeated GU, 2-1, on Sept. 21 in Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats dropped a 3-2 neutral-site decision in 1987.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. from GU's North Kehoe Field.
