MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The University of Cincinnati's volleyball held the West Virginia Mountaineers to a -.093 hitting percentage en route to a three-set sweep (25-7, 25-12, 25-14) Friday night at WVU Coliseum. Cincinnati (23-5; 10-2 BIG EAST) earned its 10th BIG EAST win of the season, equaling the most conference wins since joining the BIG EAST in 2005.

Three Cincinnati blocks, a pair of service aces by sophomores Stephanie Niemer (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) and Lindsay Upton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and three Bearcat kills helped UC jump out to a 10-3 advantage, forcing West Virginia (7-18; 0-11 BIG EAST) to use its first timeout of the set. Out of the timeout, UC scored 15 of the final 19 points to win the opening stanza, 25-7. During the 15-4 UC run, senior Jessie Nevitt (Kennesaw, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain) recorded five kills and a service ace.

Three kills apiece by senior Jessica Elley (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) and Nevitt led the Bearcats to a 10-6 cushion in the second set. A Bearcat service error made the score 10-7, before kills by Upton and Niemer followed by two Mountaineer errors widened the UC margin to 14-7. Holding a six-point lead, 16-10, the Bearcats used a seven-point run behind the serving of Upton, to take a commanding 22-10 lead. Three Nevitt kills sealed the 25-12 set-two triumph.

Three kills, a block assist, and a service ace by Upton led UC to a 10-6 lead in the third set. In front by three points, 14-11, Cincinnati reeled off six of the next seven points, extending its margin to eight points, 20-12. A service ace by freshman Kelsey Brandl (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) and a West Virginia attack error gave the Bearcats a 25-14 third-set win.

Nevitt led the way with 12 kills on 15 attempts en route to a .800 hitting percentage. Sophomore Annie Fesl (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) registered a double-double with 31 assists and 10 digs.

Cincinnati heads up north to Pittsburgh to face Pittsburgh at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. The match will take place at Fitzgerald Field House.
