CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati senior punter Kevin Huber (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) was named to the American Football Coaches Association Coaches' All-America team, the AFCA announced Thursday.

Huber, a consensus all-American and 2007 BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Year, is the first UC player to earn a spot on the AFCA all-America team.

In 52 kicks this year, Huber has averaged 44.5 yards per punt with 18 dropping inside the 20-yard line and 16 going for 50 or more yards. He hit a career-long 64-yard punt against Rutgers on Oct. 11 and was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week on Oct. 13. On puts this season, the UC special teams unit is holding opponents to an average drive start at the 24.3 yard line.

He leads the BIG EAST and ranks eighth in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision with a 44.5 yard net punting average. UC leads the NCAA FBS in net punting. Huber is UC's career leader in net punting average (45.3).

The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. The AFCA teams are the only ones chosen exclusively by coaches themselves.

The AFCA's Football Bowl Subdivision All-America Selection Committee is made up of three head coaches from each of the AFCA's nine FBS districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee.

The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts, that information, along with ballots submitted by FBS head coaches, are used to select the AFCA FBS Coaches' All-America Team.

The No. 13/12 Bearcats close out the regular season on Dec. 6, heading to Hawai'i to take on the Warriors in Aloha Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 p.m. EST and the game will air on ESPN2.
